Sweet Victory

After working on the flower beds and picking up as many of the broken branches as we could, my first major gardening project was to reclaim a large section of property alongside the driveway. It appears to have been growing wild for at least a couple of seasons and it took me quite some time to tame it.  There’s over a dozen maple trees in that section, so the leaves were really piled high.  But before I could collect them up, I had to first cut down all the tall grass with a weed eater.  All that was quite the job to rake and bag, and I was totally exhausted by the time I finished.

After that, it was off to the gardening shop to purchase a few shade plants.  Unfortunately, there aren’t too many shade plants with a lot of colour to them, but I did manage to find a couple of very pretty purple Astilbe.  I also picked up a nice fern, and several hostas.

I was quite pleased with the final result, but I’ll have to wait to see how well they take to the area.

One major project complete, and onto the next. Exhausting but rewarding.  Now I finally understand where my mother was coming from…
