Last weekend I attended the local home show and picked up a few business cards from contractors servicing our community, including one from a local arborist. The gentleman I spoke with was very pleasant and helpful, so I invited him to pop out to our property to evaluate all our trees and provide an estimate to remove any dead ones.
Today I heard back from him.
His recommendation:
- Remove 3 dead trees
- Remove five trees infested with emerald ash borer beetles
- Remove all dead branches 10 cm or larger on all remaining trees
His quote:
- $8,535.00 cost
- $1,109.55 taxes
- $9,644.55 total
My response:
- Gasp!!!
- I can get a chain saw for $104 on Amazon
- Time for a second opinion
