Water Woes

I received a bit of a rude shock yesterday when I found a trail of water in my basement coming from the area that, according to the real estate agent, had been fixed prior to the house being put on the market. (During our Home Inspection it became clear there had been a previous water issue, and at that time the seller’s agent had given me a copy of an invoice showing the leak had been repaired from the outside. The repair had been comprehensive, with the outside ground being excavated and plastic liner added to a large section of the wall.)

So, I called the contractor, who came out right away to see what I was talking about.

His visit lasted all of about five minutes.  After contemplating the situation for a moment, he gave me his professional evaluation: “Hmmm, the water must have gone down deeper than I dug. Sorry, I can’t help you with that.” 

And off he went, leaving me staring at a trail of water.

A bucket and mop solved my water problem, for now at least…
